I began A Layman’s Hope (August 2020) with the intention of highlighting those clergy and laity who inspire me to have great hope. One person in the top tier of this list is a convert to the faith whose book “Forming Intentional Disciples – The Path to Knowing and Following Jesus” caused me to exclaim a resounding YES! upon reading her work. Its author, Sherry Weddell lays out for the reader what she’s discovered by doing tens of thousands of interviews around the world.
This book is a must read for anyone who is in parish leadership or for anyone interested in understanding how to identify the different stages of conversion to discipleship. The only caveat I offer is that you’ll have to push through the first chapter as it is here that Weddell lays out some challenging statistics. You can order Weddell’s book directly from the Siena Institute’s website http://www.siena.org or through Amazon. Below is a video from Bishop Barron which I encourage you to view to understand the context of Weddell’s work.
